THE BASEMENT SURGE

INTRODUCTION

The Basement Surge is a general discussion comedy show out of Brooklyn, NY and is part of Surge Media. It was created by two best friends of 25 years, John Svedese and Frank Anselmo.  Frank has since left the show, so John has rebranded Surge to bring value to the audience with intriguing interviews and giveaways. The topics on the show include pop culture, dad life, movie reviews, podcasting and entrepreneurship to name a few. The main focus of the show is to bring some value and laughter to our audience. The guests we approach to come on the show have unique lives and interesting stories to tell.

 

John also started a podcast called SurgeCast to help inspire fellow creators. We hope to make our audience "Feel The Surge" with every episode.

We also run fundraisers for our favorite charity The Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson's Research. Every year we do what's called "The Mission" where we rollerblade eight miles around Brooklyn to raise money for the foundation.

John Svedese

John is from Brooklyn, New York and over 40 years later he's still in the same house he grew up in.

​

John's background is very heavy in graphic design, art and video production. So in 2019, when he started The Basement Surge, he put all his skills into the production of the show. Quickly climbing the ranks in the independent podcasting space, BS now resides in the top 5% of podcasts in the world. 

​

In 2022, John took a break from the show for 6 months and when he returned it was a whole new show. He had upgraded everything from the graphics, format of the show, and his presence on socials.

​

Today, John is the co-founder of Surge Media with his wife Heather where they help independent creators and corporate companies start or upgrade their podcast. They also offer coaching, digital tools and assets and studio renovations.

​

John is also in the middle of writing his first book, "Feel The Surge: How To Go From 0 To Trailblazer!" Coming soon!

The podcast was created in February of 2020. The podcast now has over 5,400 downloads and is available on 19 different podcast directories and 40 different apps.

The vodcast is our main show on YouTube. As we record the podcast we have a camera rolling in studio recording everything. So not only can our audience listen on the podcast but they can also watch us as we record the episode on our YouTube channel.

Live Stream

Every week John and his wife Heather go live on "The Weekly Surge" on Facebook and YouTube to recap that weeks episode and expand on the topics. They also announce giveaway winners and interact with the audience as the show goes on. With an audience reach of 10k every week, the Surge is constantly reaching new heights.
