We're excited to announce that The Basement Surge is opening its doors to other VODcasters! We're giving select hosts the opportunity to take Surge by the reins and produce their own episode of the show!
Over the past almost four years, The Basement Surge has gone through numerous evolutions. Starting off as audio only and quickly moving into VODcasting on YouTube and live shows on Facebook the Surge has always tried to stay one step ahead of everyone else. Hence, where John gets the title of "Trailblazer." From top notch graphics to awesome video teasers and social posts, John tries to make Surge look like there's a team of people who have spent years in the industry creating all this for him. But John does all the graphics and videos himself.
The format of the show is also something that's evolved through the years. The show went from two best friends talking about memories of growing up in Brooklyn, New York and things they loved to do (play video games, watch movies and eat food) to new guests every week who bring value to not only the show but to the audience. Since the relaunch of Surge we've had numerous professionals in their fields like podcasting, public speaking, sports and radio. We're still talking about things we love, only with the people who are actually in the field. And it's so much fun!
We have so many fans from around the world, including other podcasters, that we want to open the show up to them. We are part of an amazing community that is so supportive of each other, no matter how amateur the show there's always someone there to give some support. And that's the point of "The Basement Takeover" episodes. They say one of the best way to promote your podcast is to guest appear on other shows to get the word out and expose yourself to their audience. Well, we're taking it one step further. Take over our show and do an episode you would normally do, except with Basement Surge branding. Of course your show name and podcast artwork will show during the episode and in the show notes but with a takeover you get exposure and John editing and adding fancy graphics to the episode.
So here's some requisites for doing a "Basement Takeover" episode that we even follow for regular episodes:
Must be on camera (VODcast)
Must have proper microphones. No built-in mics or earbuds.
No offensive topics. Be nice. (No hating/bashing ethnicities or sexual preferences)
No politics.
No religion.
